Sohail Castle Fuengirola

Sohail Castle is located at the mouth of Rio Fuengirola on a hill near the beach. The Romans already had a settlement on this spot. The castle was built in AD 956 by ABD-Ar-Rahman III to reinforce the coastal defenses. In 1485 the site was conquered from the Nasrid Caliphate by the Christians. In 2000, the city of Fuengirola renovated the ruins of the castle. Now festivals and events take place regularly. The castle is free to enter.
